12. Cross Country CD (original release 1993)
Cross Country - Tennessee With Me - Boot Scootin' Boogie - Lady Of The Prairie - Some Gave All - Alone On Sunday - Friends In Low Places - Achy Breaky Heart – Forever - Winding Down My Life
BRITT SMALL & FESTIVAL arose from their prairie roots to become one of America’s greatest showbands. This 12th album released by BRITT SMALL & FESTIVAL also marked the group’s 20th anniversary on the road together. "Cross Country" contains three original songs written by Britt's brother, Dave Small. The title song, “Cross Country”, “Winding Down My Life”, which was also on the first FESTIVAL album in 1975, and the never-before recorded “Forever”, written when Dave was only 14-years old. "Lady Of The Prairie" and "Tennesse With Me", were written by FESTIVAL's bass player, Ray Roth. "Cross Country" also includes the emotional song, "Some Gave All", which Britt sang while standing on top of The Wall, during the National Veterans Day Ceremonies, in Washington, DC. "Boot Scootin' Boogie", "Achy, Breaky Heart", and "Friends In Low Places", were songs that FESTIVAL's fans always requested, so they were put on this album just for fun. In fact, on "Friends In Low Places", FESTIVAL is totally having fun with this recording. They can be heard howling, laughing, and clinking bottles together. You should have been there.
