2007 was the first time Britt was able to go to The Wall in Washington, D.C., as a veteran, not as an entertainer. A day of emotions running high for Britt as he remembered fallen comrades, calming the anger at the dedication in 1982, and... (continue with next picture)

...remembering performing right above where he's standing. The countless performances at the Reflecting Pool with FESTIVAL, and the continuing fight for the return of American POWs and remains of MIAs. The day he returned to The Wall for the first time in 25 years, as a veteran.

Britt's son, Marty Small, knew at the age of 5, when he went with his Dad to the dedication of The Wall in 1982, that he was going to become a soldier. Pictured here is, CPT Martin Small, US Paratrooper, and an Iraq veteran, serving two tours of duty, visiting The Wall so many years later.

Pictured here with Britt, is Gold Star Mother, Mrs. Beda Schafer. Beda is the Gold Star Mother, "The Wall" was written about. Her son, Jim, was Killed in Action in Vietnam. He was in Britt's unit, the 173rd Airborne Brigade. Beda also lost a Grandson in Iraq.

During Britt's performance with the Moving Wall at the Linn Creek Campground, he had the Camdenton High School drama class portray the Three Fighting Men Statue and the Vietnam Women's Memorial, as he sang his song, "The Wall".

There wasn't a dry eye in the audience, or on stage, after that dramatic performance of "The Wall". Today, a memorial sits where The Wall sat for 6 nights and 7 days. The campground has since been closed, but the memorial still receives a lot of visitors yearly.

"I went to the Wall. I touched the Wall. I felt someone touching me back."

"It made me realize that this happened to young people like myself." 
"It is an honor and a privilege to have viewed and touched The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Moving Wall that represents the courage, valor, and bravery of those who marched off to unknown land to defend and protect our precious liberty. Those Americans honored here are from all walks of life that had hopes and thoughts of a future, but when called to duty, went, never to return home. The endless names etched in stone are a vivid reminder of those who made the ultimate sacrifice. I found myself trying to put a face on a name, cringing when I thought of them dying young. It is a cold, windy day as I pause, reflect, and try to absorb the enormity of what these brave soldiers endured and gave up. Freedom carries a high price." 
"I really enjoyed the guest speakers, especially the Paratrooper and Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. They are very inspiring and I believe that they will help influence today's generation." 

"While I was there, I picked a name from the Wall that I will remember always. That person fought to allow me to be free." 

"I thank you sincerely for helping my generation see all the faces of the Vietnam War. The debts these American's paid are great, but their spirit is greater still." 

"You showed me that you are history, you are the ones who made it all. The next time I have the chance to meet a veteran, I think I will either hug him or salute him and say thank you very much."
