"American Pride" is a double CD compilation of four albums by BRITT SMALL & FESTIVAL, "Tattered Flags/Broken Promises", "America Called", "Colors", and "Cross Country". These are the songs performed by BRITT SMALL & FESTIVAL at memorial dedications and veteran’s reunions all over the country. This includes the dedications in Washington, DC, of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in 1982, the Three Fighting Men Statue in 1984, the Vietnam Women’s Memorial in 1993, and the Korean War Memorial in 1995. American Pride is a trip through time and memory that expresses the “Duty, Honor, Country”, of those who have fought for freedom, and the issues that live in their hearts. BRITT SMALL & FESTIVAL also performed at the 1985 New York Vietnam Veterans Ticker Tape Parade, the 1986 Chicago Vietnam Veterans Welcome Home Parade and the 1987 Great Texas Stand Down and were featured entertainers in 1990 at the 50th Anniversary of the Airborne at RFK Stadium in Washington, DC. These performances, and many others, have earned BRITT SMALL & FESTIVAL the title "The Musical Voice of America’s Veterans” and Static Line Magazine dubbed them, “The Band of the Airborne”. "American Pride" is a musical journey to Vietnam and back, through the eyes of the Vietnam veteran, who returns to the United States unwanted, and disrespected by the American people. The greatest hurt of all is the fact that we left men behind, in the hands of the enemy. Through the dedications of memorials, with many tears shed, a brotherhood is discovered at the end of the journey. The album notes for "American Pride" explain the journey, the connection of the songs to the Vietnam veteran, the fight for acceptance, the loving brotherhood that only warriors understand, and finally, the acceptance of the American people, and the pride of being an American veteran.
